Quad Easel Card

When I get emotionally involved while making a card, the result is always great. I always believe that no one but yourself can be the best critic of your work. And when my heart feels wow, am exhilarated.

So a friend of mine was leaving for USA for a long period. She wanted to gift something special to her mom. She asked me to make a "Nice" card for her. She told me she loves peacock blue. After some head scratching over various colour combinations, I finally gave up and decided to make a colourful card. After all, every lady loves bright colors!!!! When you decide to make something big and have limited time, you have to burn the midnight oil.... and that is what i ended up doing :) But had fun nevertheless!!!

So this is the Quad easel card I came up with....

This is the closed view.
This is the top view. I added the peacock blue colour at the base and paired it up with yellow :) Sometimes when u start making the card, color combination comes to you by itself
Easel 1- a simple sticker of winnie the pooh..

Easel 2-  I found this pic dam cute and decided to include it in the card. Its my friend with her mom. The pics of 1980's give a vintage look to the card and make u want to hold on to that memory!
Easel 3- A little poem I made up to show importance of mom in daughter's life. The red flowers are made using the tiny balloon punches
Easel 4- This is my friends childhood pic. She looks sooo cute. I had to use this one!! The childhood pics often bring out some lovely emotional sentiments.

I was hoping and praying that her mom loves the card.... And she really did! my efforts after all were rewarded. :)

Diamond Fold Card

At times i make cards that highlight the words that i have given in it and at times I make cards to give it a touch of beauty... Well this was one card on those lines....
One of my friend wanted to gift something to his girlfriend on Valentine, but he didnt want me to add words to it. Sometimes it gets difficult to come up with cards where in i don't have to add my words. After alot of head scratching and internet surfing i found about a diamond fold card and pulled up my sleeves to experiment with this one...
Let me tell my start was a disaster. I goofed up the measurements and ended up wasting my precious card stock :(  ( I dont know whether to call my self thrifty or miser :P  ) But the result was worth the effort.

Thats the closed view

This is when i fully open it
This is the back view of the card. I added this, because my dear friend was going to add words himself. So a little blank piece of page for his input ;)

The image is Ragged Romeo Image from MO's Dream Team I have hand drawn and colored it. The picture was soooo cute I could not resist adding it to my card.

The red little prima roses are my first experiment with prima roses. You can find its tutorial at Prima Rose Tutorial.

Since i faced some goof ups while making this card, I thought of adding a little tutorial here, for whoever wishes to make this card and would not like to waste the precious card stock :)

Diamond Fold Card Tutorial
I have taken a card stock that measures 4*12 inches.Make sure that the width of the card stock is always 3 times the height e.g if the height is 7 inches, width should be 21 in. When closed the card will almost be a square with the length of height you choose.( in my case a 4*4 inch square). So choose accordingly. Except for these there are no measurements involved!!!

This is my 4*12inch card stock.
1. Fold it in half and then open it to get a central line

2. Fold both flaps along the centre line

3. Open it, and fold in similar fashion on the opposite side.

4. Now when you open it, you will get the diamond shape(which is actually a 4inch rhombus). Now fold the 2 sides till the first edge of rhombus.

5. Now turn the card back and again fold these till the central line.
6. Now open the entire card. You will get 4 triangles. Bend them on the inside.

7. Your diamond fold card is ready!!! Absolutely no measurements(for lazy asses like me, who hate holding a pencil and scale, its a boon!!!! )
